​The 21km Hanmer Forest Trail is a true adventure, starting with a climb up the iconic Conical Hill, offering breathtaking views before descending into some of Hanmer Forest’s best running trails. The course winds through a mix of native and exotic forests, including sections of the historic Heritage Forest, providing a stunning and varied terrain for an unforgettable trail experience.

Parking
Participants Parking
Event parking is located at the Hanmer Springs Sports Reserve, just 800 metres from the finish line in Hanmer Springs Village. Follow the parking signs on Argelins Road and Jacks Pass Road upon arrival
Start Waves
To ensure a smooth, safe, and fair experience for all participants, the 21km event will begin with a rolling start from 8:00am. Participants will start in consecutive waves based on their pre-selected start group. Please be realistic when selecting your start wave — this helps manage flow on the trails and improves everyone's experience on course. Your wave number is printed on your race bib, and signage will guide you to the correct start area on event morning. All timing is mat-to-mat, meaning your official time starts when you cross the start line.

Wave 1 8:00am Start -  expected finished time under 1:30hrs
  • In this wave runners are aiming to have a great result, give it a crack and maybe try for a PB.

Wave 2 - expected finished time, 1:30 -1:45hrs
  • In this wave runners are aiming to run the whole course to set a good time

Wave 3 - expect finished time, 1:45 -2:00hrs
  • In this wave runners are aiming to run or jog the whole course.

Wave 4 -  expected finished time, 2:00hrs plus
  • In this wave runners are aiming to run and walk the course at their own pace.

Wave 5 - The party wave, expected finished time 2:30hrs plus
  • This start wave is for the runners and walkers who want to have a bit of a party or dance at the entertainment sites along the course.
What to expect on course
The course is fully supported with event staff, volunteers, medics, drink stations & toilets.

Drink Stations
​There will be drink stations on the course to support the participants. The drink stations will have Pure Sports Nutrition electrolytes, water and toilets. Cups are provided.
  • DS1 - 2.69km
  • DS2 - 6.29km
  • DS3 - 12.3km 
  • DS4 - 19.25km

Course Check points
Course cut-offs are set for event safety and course management. They are based on walking pace and factoring in terrain, weather, and based on the start time of the last group. Participants falling behind pace will be stopped at checkpoints and removed from the event. A team is in place to transport riders back to the venue. Additional cut-offs may be enforced in adverse weather. The check points are listed below
  • 6.29km 9:41am, Drink Station 2
  • 12.3km 11:00am, Drink Station 3
  • Finish Line 1:30pm 

Course Marking
The course is fully marked and there is very little navigation skills required. We use bright blue ribbons and arrows.
Finisher medals & Prizes
All finishing participants will receive a finishers medal​.

​There is no prize giving ceremony at this event.  ​Prizes are available for the top three male and female participants in each age group.

Participants who are eligible for the placing prizes must collect it from the information tent located at the finish line between 9am and 1pm.  Prize will not be posted out.  Other spot prize are given out in the lead up to the event.

bag drop service
Run bag free.  Our drop bag service allows you to pack items you might need at the start line, but not for your run and collect them at the finish line. This might be a warm jacket, water or food for when you finish, or your wallet or purse. 

Drop Off and Pick up Location for 21km: Hanmer Springs Memorial Hall
TIPS ON DROP BAGS 🟢
  • We only accept sealable bags
  • We provide you a bag label to attach to the bag.
  • You bag will be transported from the start line to the finish.
  • Please collect at the Hanmer Springs Memorial Hall before 2.00pm, any remaining gear bags will be donated to charity.​
  • Anything left unattended at the startline have left will be donated to charity.

You MUST bring your bag tag tear off on the bottom of your bib number to collect your bag, you can't collect your bag with out it.
